Our story

Who we are

Lakay se lakay.

Aloayitifm began as a place to keep up with what’s happening in the Haitian community: events, news, the people doing good work. The clothing came out of that. People kept asking where they could find something to wear that said where they’re from, without it looking like a souvenir.

So we started drawing. The designs pull from Kreyòl sayings, from 1804, from the flag, and from the small things anyone who grew up in a Haitian home will recognize. Some are loud. Some are inside jokes. All of them are made to be worn on an ordinary Tuesday, not only on Flag Day.

How it’s made

Every piece is printed after you order it. We work with print partners who produce each item on demand, which means we don’t keep piles of unsold shirts in a warehouse, and we can try new designs without wasting fabric.

Who it’s for

Haitians in Haiti and everywhere else. Kids born in Boston, Miami, Montréal or Paris who want to carry a piece of home. And anyone who loves Haiti and wants to show it.
